FROM THE 2021 DISASTER & HUNGER RELIEF MINISTRIES
Dear brothers and sisters in the Church of God,
On the final day of 2021, Church of God Ministries wants to say THANK YOU for your incredible generosity towards the Disaster and Hunger Relief Funds this past year.
In Matthew 5:4, Jesus proclaims: “Bless-ed are those that mourn, for they are comforted.” The Greek word used here for “bless-ed” is makarios. This word indicates a state of goodness and wholeness that is already present in the situation. Jesus is therefore not saying that we ought to seek out mourning so that we can earn the blessing of comfort. Rather, Jesus is promising that even in our mourning we are already bless-ed, makarios, because the Kingdom blessing of comfort is here and available to us through Him. This is good news!
As Christ’s body on earth today, the Church all around the world receives and shares this Bless-ed Comfort with those mourning from disaster and hunger. In 2021, one place we witnessed such being carried out was through the partnership between Disaster and Hunger Relief Ministries and the Church of God in Haiti.
